When building your website, the focus should be on getting you ranked. This is a true specialty and it is a very important one. The truth is that you could have a beautiful website that no one ever finds via search. It is also true that you will not rank well on all search keyword combinations, but the goal is to determine the keywords that are most used and to implement them as part of your search strategy. You should also know that it can sometimes take weeks or months for search engines to capture and rank your website.
When working with a search engine optmization company, let them know if you have specific keywords on which you would like to rank. Your SEO expert will research how frequently those keywords are used and let you know if they will bring visitors to your website.
In the end, you should be confident that your website is built fully optimized for great search engine results. If this has been managed correctly, you will attract more consumers who are searching for your products or services than your competitors do. And evidence can be obtained from website traffic reports (be sure to ask for these to be configured and monitored as well).

Your very inspired and talented web designer has delivered an aesthetically pleasing website. If only you could attract website visitors and convince those visitors to choose your products.
The product sale I’ll leave to you, but here are a few recommendations for getting visitors to your website:
- Require that your web designer build you a “thin” website. This means no heavy images or scripts and no overuse of Flash. These can make your pages load much too slowly or even worse; your website may crash. Also, Website visitors and search engines don’t typically wait for heavy, slow pages to load.
- Hire a web writer to edit your web copy. These experts have a clear understanding of the unique ways that consumers read copy on a computer screen. They also know what compromises to make to strike a balance between what website visitors do and how search engines work.
- Consult with a search engine optimization expert. We conduct keyword research and implement the many best practices that improve your opportunities to rank higher in search engines than your direct competitors do.
If you’ve ever wondered how your competitors are able to attract so much business via the Internet, you’ve been enlightened.
Cute Website! But Without Marketing… It’s Kinda Like Buying A Billboard In The Desert

If there’s a billboard in the dessert and nobody sees it, was it worth the marketing spend?
Having a website is as important as having a phone number for your business. But not all websites are created equal. A pretty website can be like a billboard in the desert… if no one finds it. A website should be a marketing tool that helps you generate leads and sales while at the same time reducing advertising costs.
Marketers who provide web design have a huge advantage as they know what works to convert visitors into buyers on the internet. They deliver a site that is visually pleasing, organized, is manageable and converts web prospects.
Remember that web designers are not marketers. Therefore even though they may create a beautiful site it is worthless if it does not move people to buy.

Most people think “web” and believe that it all falls into one bucket. But specialties in Web are much like in medicine. There are many specializations much like there are brain surgeons, cardiologists and others in medicine.
Most web folks start out in design (often graphics design) or programming (often referred to as development). Some stay and become more specialized in these areas. Some move on to the marketing and search engine expertise while others move into the more technical areas like web server administration, web security and hardware components management.
Old school folks like me started at a time when companies had one webmaster (a very generic term) who had to maintain the hardware, keep it safe, design the website and write the website copy. Eventually when web was recognized as an important marketing tool, I was lucky enough to be employed by companies that identified me as a good candidate for a marketing specialization. They thought I was strategic and big-picture… and so here I am. My focus is now on the marketing and SEO side, but I have the experience from the various areas… just my good fortune.
Hopefully some of this helps as you move forward and decide who to use. By the way, if you Google “webmaster Houston”, we rank #1 (www.clickgrafx.com). If you Google “Houston Internet Marketing Expert”, we rank #7 (and moving up). This is often what I use as my proof in the pudding.
